The daylong workshop on Fund Raising Strategies for self-reliance held at Community Radio Bikrampur, Munshigonj with the support of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) and Free Press Unlimited (FPU). It is an advance level refresher training workshop for community radio stations to help them for designing and developing a fund-raising plan for their radio so that they can raise their fund to run their radio in the future.
The objective of the event is to make them aware about the sustentation of the radio, trend of present financial supports, identify the sources of fund, marketing strategies, competitors in market, strength, weakness, opportunities and threats of the radio stations etc. In addition, to help them for developing a fund-raising plan for their station.
In his welcome speech, Mr. Mushfikur Salehin Shihab, Senior Producer, Community Radio Bikrampur has welcomed the participants to take active role in the discussion and expressed his thanks and gratitude to BNNRC and Free Press Unlimited for the financial and technical support for organizing the workshop. Fund Raising is essential for the survival of our radio stations and we can start now. He added that the learning of the workshop will help them for creating fund raising environment in the coming days.
Ten (10) radio broadcasters and volunteers participated in the workshop. Mr. Mark Manash Saha, Coordinator, BNNRC has facilitated the sessions of the workshop. He said we should take the issue seriously and think in different way with different strategies for motivating the client that we use before. He added that we could use our listener clubs, children clubs, local government structure and social media for raising our fund. The participants prepared an action plan for next one year mentioning their strategies to raise funds for Radio Bikrampur.
The workshop was conducted as like Training of Trainers (ToT) and 6 Staff of BNNRC participated in the workshop and learned techniques of the workshop. BNNRC staff will conduct same workshop to other community radio stations.
The program was concluded with the vote of thanks by Senior Producer Mushfikur Salehin Shihab of Radio Bikrampur.
